Two Young Entrepreneurs Building Their Own Empire

Today, Young Entrepreneurs believe in Innovation and Creativity which could eradicate any problem. In this Week, Startup Launcher has awarded “Entrepreneur of the Week” to two talented small-town girls, Ms.Shalu Nathani and Ms.Diksha Saxena who are scripting sweet success with a Sweet Startup.

At the age of 22, Shalu and Diksha have started a startup, Swazen & Company where they sell organic products made from traditional fruits and vegetables. Swazen works closely with the Moraka Foundation which helps them to procure raw materials directly from farmers in Nawalgarh, Jaipur. The products mainly manufactured from fresh BeetRoots and Karandas(Christ’s Thorn) at a processing unit in Moraka Foundation, Jaipur.

These young entrepreneurs got the idea of making jams, jellies, salsa and candies from beetroots and Christ’s thorn to promote the healthy and nutritious diet in our daily life. So the question arises how they started their journey.

Making of Two Young Entrepreneurs

Shalu and Diksha are MBA students of Bansthanli University in Jaipur. They both are pursuing Management and Business Administration in CSR & Social Entrepreneurship Stream. Both these girls belong from small-towns of Uttar Pradesh.

Although, they never thought about starting their own venture. But one incident changed their lives and encouraged to make palatable, nutraceutical-rich, chemical and preservative-free confectionery products.

The incident was when Shalu’s mother suffered from hemoglobin deficiency and the doctor suggested her mother should eat beetroot and take iron supplements. But, the not likable taste of beetroot made her mother avoiding it . As a result of that, Shalu and Diksha who loved food, cooking, and experimenting, thought why not come up with an organic, tastier alternative by reintroducing traditional crops in our diet.”

So with the help of University teachers, they started researching and experimenting with the beetroot to make salsa and jam. Being Small-town girls, it gave them the opportunity to identify local, nutritious traditional crops. The Concept of Swazen is to sustain the nutritive value in the regular diet by providing chemical-free organic products.

About Swazen

These young entrepreneurs began operation in May 2018. Since then, Swazen has been incubating at Atal Incubation Center, under Niti Aayog Initiative that encourages innovation in entrepreneurship.

Currently, these two young entrepreneurs are working on a contract-manufacturing model with Morarka Foundation, Jaipur, who is supporting them and providing assistance. Shalu and Diksha pumped the whole generated revenue into the business. They have applied for certain grants; also, associated with SSE India will hopefully help them to grow.
